a very helpful presentation, offering Volksboutique services to Expo
visitors, looking for a way to articulate their impressions of the World
Fair.
* HANDBAG: A courier bag/portable office/survival kit. This work will
be presented in October of 2000 at the Hamburger Kunsthalle in Germany,
as part of the exhibition "Moving/In". This limited edition bag can
be yours for DM 200. If you would like to order yours, please mail us
at any time.
*PILOT: The invention, presentation and filming of a late night television
talk show. This is our debut show with Ronald Feldman Fine Arts.
From the press release:
From the exhibition's start the artist will begin establishing a functioning
television studio, including working production offices and a professional
set. On public display will be the entire evolution of a talk show:
the development of the host persona, guest selections, writer's meetings,
technician and band rehearsals. The realization of the project culminates
with the filming of the premiere episode before a live studio audience
on October 6.
And from the Pilot Concept:
Pilot's primary motivation is to channel a series of obsessions (with
Improv Theater, with "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", with cottage industry,
with personality development, among others) into a cohesive installation
which takes a recognized form from daily life and adapts it to fit personal
preoccupation. This to serve a public purpose, or at the very least,
provide entertainment. There is a desire to invoke participation, or
at least give audiences the ability to say "I was there". & The artist
becomes the coordinator of all these events, while simultaneously being
groomed for the role of 'host'. As labor organizer, the artist exercises
both control over the situation, while opening herself up to group requests
and desires. As a host, she hones her conversational skills to make
each exchange as lucrative and humorous as possible.
You want something done, you gotta do it yourself.
We would be thrilled to see you at any juncture of the extensive PILOT
project:

it is poster art.
